Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI)
UConn Hartford is a federally designated Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI), recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. This designation enables institutions to receive grants that enhance their capacity to support and serve Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander communities, fostering success for these student populations.
UConn Transformation, Equity, Access, and Sense of Belonging (TEAS) Project
The Transformation, Equity, Access, and Sense of Belonging (TEAS) Project supports UConn Hartford's Asian American students by providing access to culturally relevant curricula, mentorship opportunities, and a variety of academic, social, and student services. Its priorities include fostering community partnerships, integrating academic and social services, and emphasizing academic achievement.
Established in 2023, the TEAS Project was made possible through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education's Minority Serving Institution Program, secured through the collaborative efforts of faculty and staff from UConn Hartford and Storrs. This five-year grant allows the Department of Social and Critical Inquiry to promote broad-based inclusion and invest in student success.
