Research

The Department of Social and Critical Inquiry strives to build a global reputation for innovative research and critical engagement. Our work is interdisciplinary, collaborative, and community-centered, connecting research with real-world impact.

Our researchers focus on areas that often intersect, such as gender and sexuality, indigeneity, U.S. empire and transnationalism, and the growing fields of global Asias and transpacific studies. Much of our research is made possible through partnerships with community organizations.

Students present their research a research event at the Humanities Institute.
